Kathryn + Jeremiah's Whistler Helicopter Elopement on Rainbow Mountain
Some days as a photographer feel especially surreal, and this summer helicopter elopement with Blackcomb Helicopters was one of those days that stays with you long after the camera is packed away.
We started early, the kind of early where Whistler is still quiet and the mountains feel like they’re just waking up. The couple arrived full of energy and calm excitement—adventurous, joyful, and clearly ready for whatever the day had in store. After a quick safety briefing, we lifted off with Blackcomb Helicopters and headed toward Rainbow Glacier, the morning light spilling across snowfields and rugged peaks below us.
Landing on the glacier never gets old. There’s something grounding about stepping out onto ice and rock, surrounded by endless mountain ranges, knowing this is where two people are about to commit their lives to each other. Jeremy from Whistler Wedding Pastor was both planner and officiant, guiding the ceremony with intention and ease. It felt deeply personal—quiet, meaningful, and completely focused on the couple, with the mountains as witnesses.
The weather could not have been better. Clear skies, soft light, and just enough breeze to remind us where we were. We spent time documenting the ceremony and wandering the glacier for portraits, letting moments unfold naturally. The couple laughed easily, soaked it all in, and fully embraced the experience—exactly the kind of energy that makes an elopement day feel effortless.
After the ceremony, we flew back down into the valley for more portraits at Green Lake. The contrast between the icy alpine landscape and the calm, reflective water was stunning, and it felt like the perfect way to round out the day. From snow and stone to still water and trees, it was a reminder of how diverse and beautiful this area is in the summer.
One of my favourite details from the day? The couple had actually mined the stones for their rings themselves at a dig site. I had no idea that was even something you could do, and it made their rings—and the commitment they symbolized—feel even more meaningful. Those are the kinds of personal touches that make elopements so special.
This day was a perfect example of why helicopter elopements in Whistler are so incredible: intentional, adventurous, and deeply personal. Huge thanks to Blackcomb Helicopters for a seamless experience, and to Jeremy from Whistler Wedding Pastor for creating a ceremony that felt grounded and true to the couple.
If you’re dreaming of an elopement that feels equal parts wild and heartfelt, this is it!
